YMCA, Warriors, Teludyne sit atop WFBC League standings

After holiday break, teams back in court action

Waldoboro — It is early in the season, but the action in Waldoboro First Baptist Church Men's Basketball League now resumes at a fast pace.

Games in the popular league, which has 19 teams in three divisions, with squads traveling from as far away as Augusta, Wiscasset, Boothbay and Camden to compete, are played in the church gymnasium off Route 1 next to Moody's Diner in Waldoboro.

The recent scores, standings and individual statistical leaders include:

Division I

On Jan. 3, Kay Construction defeated Leighton Associates 59-56, YMCA beat Destiny 39-36 and Free Press edged Scrubs 68-67.

Standings — YMCA 3-0, Kay Construction 3-0, Leighton Associates 2-1, Ship City 2-1, Destiny 1-3, Free Press 1-3 and Scrubs 0-4.

On Jan. 8, Laurel Wood Floors beat Insanity 61-56, Denman Builders outlasted Lincoln County News 53-48 and Warriors downed Midcoast Masonary 74-73.
