Yankee Brass at the Sail, Power and Steam
Rockland — The Sail, Power and Steam Museum at Sharp’s Point South will present a concert by the Yankee Brass Band Wednesday, July 23, at 7 p.m. The concert is free, with donations appreciated.
This band is dedicated to performing mid-19th century brass band music on original antique instruments. Its repertoire is drawn from many New England bands and consists of marches, dances, opera overtures, solos and popular music selections. The band and conductor Paul Mayberry encourage serious scholarship and research with a goal of recreating the brass band concerts heard in small towns throughout Maine and New England. A highlight this year will be Mick Hesse of Farmington, N.M., performing on the E flat cornet.
Sharp’s Point South and the Sail, Power and Steam Museum are at 75 Mechanic St. For more information on the museum and its programs, call 701-7627 or 596-0200; email firstname.lastname@example.org; or visit sharpspointsouth.com.
