Thank goodness it's Friday. Now that it's "spring" we can all start hoping we will never get another snow storm and maybe, just maybe my car will stay clean for more than two hours!
This week was pretty challenging for me and it seems it was for everyone else too. But it's finally Friday and the weekend is here. I've been counting down the days until tomorrow for months because tomorrow I am going to World of Wheels in Boston with my dad!
World of Wheels is my favorite show of the year not only because it has some of the best custom hot rods & muscle cars in the country but also because three years ago it was an emotional turning point for me. Ok now I know as a reader you're like 'what? How is a car show emotional?'
Well for one reason any show or race I attend with my dad is very special to me because we have a great father-daughter relationship and I love spending time with him.
Secondly, I don't know if anyone cares about this but three years ago I was a senior in college at UMaine in Orono and a week before finals in December I had the "big" relationship break up. I mean the one serious relationship that feels like you get your heart ripped out and then shown to you. The one you wish no one has to experience but everyone does at some point in their life.
Anyways back to cars. So for the next few months I didn't feel like myself and I'm sure I didn't act like myself. My dad attended World of Wheels shows growing up and he was really excited to go that year so he suggested that I tag along. I've never been so I didn't know what to expect and it turned out to be such an amazing show I was just overly happy.
There had to be at least five TransAm there and each one was so amazing. I would look at one and get my picture taken with it and then see another one out of the corner of my eye and walk towards it probably drove my dad nuts. But at that show I finally felt like myself again and blocked out the world probably couldn't even remember my ex's name if you asked me.
Then as if my day couldn't get any better my dad and I came upon the Kevin Morgan Design exhibit. It's like God was trying to make me feel better and knew Burt Renyolds would make go into over load; probably faint, so he gave me the next best thing. Kevin Morgan designed the TA kit for the new Camaro so basically he brought back the TA (which was there on display, oh my goodness). I got two posters autographed by Morgan and they even let me go under the rope to take pictures with Morgan next to the TA he designed! Needless to say that will always be my favorite show for many different reasons for the rest of my life unless this year they have Burt Renyolds in a TA doing donuts in the parking lot.
I can't wait for the show tomorrow even though Morgan won't be there I know there will still be a ton of amazing muscle cars (imports are some where in the back) and hot rods. I swear some of these cars are put in bubble wrap after the show and never been driven on the road.
If you're in the Boston area this weekend check out the 39th Annual Town Fair Tire World of Wheels at the Seaport World Trade Center, March 22nd-24th. Go to TownFairTire.com and you can get a $2.00 off coupon.
I hope everyone has a great weekend because I know I will be having the time of my life.
