Workshops At The Apprenticeshop

By The Apprenticeshop | Apr 08, 2014

Spring is here and so is the new workshop lineup at The Apprenticeshop.

Lofting: Learn the art of lofting a traditional small boat by laying down and fairing lines. Learn how to read tables of offsets, use mold and patterns and develop lines as you move toward a deeper understanding of how to translate and draw boat plans for full size in multiple perspectives.

Four Tuesday & Thursday evening classes beginning on April 15.

Tool Sharpening: Learn what sharp really means and discover inexpensive ways to create a simple sharpening system. You'll try grinding, honing and polishing while bringing old blades back to life. Bring a chisel of plane blade that needs sharpening if you have them.

Saturday, May 3

Oar Making: Learn the basics of patterning, cutting, shaping and finishing a pair of oars, mostly with hand tools, as you craft a useful heirloom. Each participant will take home a finished pair of oars to use for many years to come. Tools and materials provided.

Saturday & Sunday, May 3 & 4
