Woman sought for questioning in Lincolnville theft
Lincolnville — Lincolnville Police are seeking a woman for questioning in connection with a theft at the Mt. Ararat Farm farm stand in Lincolnville.
Lincolnville Police Chief Ron Young said he believes the incident occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. He said the farm stand — located at the junction of Route 52 and Van Cycle Road — experienced a string of thefts during the summer of 2011. Young said the operators installed a heavy-duty lock box at his suggestion, but the suspect in the latest robbery on Saturday was able to break-in to the lock box.
It is estimated the box contained approximately $50 to $100.
Young said police are looking for the female suspect, who is approximately late teens to early-20s. He said she is wanted for questioning.
In an apparently unrelated incident, Young said a vehicle break-in occurred at the head of the Bald Mountain hiking trail on Monday, Sept. 10. The vehicle owner reported an iPod valued at approximately $300 was taken from the car.
Young advised citizens to lock their vehicles and to be on the lookout for "anything suspicious." Anyone with information about either break-in is advised to call Waldo County Dispatch at 338-2040 and request to speak with Chief Young.
