Wiscasset Speedway to reopen April 6 for 2013Track had been dormant and is again rising
Wiscasset — The stock car racing season is nearly upon us and, with that, Wiscasset Speedway will celebrate its 44th year with an action-packed itinerary.
New owners, Richard and Vanessa Jordan, invite race fans to bring their families and join the fun as the 3/8-mile high-banked track will open Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m., and hold divisional races on Saturdays through Fall Fury on October 5, 2013.
Wiscasset Speedway first opened in 1969.
This year, in an effort to provide a timely and action-packed show, the new management team has decided to split their regular divisions into two groups that will alternate week to week.
Group one will feature Pro Stock, Super Stock, Thunder 4s and Northeast 4 cylinder Pro Stock divisions. Group two will showcase Late Model Sportsman, Strickly Streets, Outlaw Minis and Mini Trucks.
Also on the schedule are Enduro races, Nelcar Legends, Northeast Mini Stock Tour, The Wicked Vintage Racers, and other events.
Wiscasset will run a Saturday afternoon program through April and bring the action under the lights beginning in May.
The opening day schedule will have pit gates open at 8 a.m. with practice beginning at 9 a.m. and grandstand gates open at 11 a.m. The green flag will drop at 1 p.m.
The track offers free parking and admission is $5 per person, with children ages 6 and younger free.
Wiscasset Speedway is located on the West Alna Road in Wiscasset.
