Winter weather set to return

Gray — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Warning for Knox, Waldo and Lincoln counties, to go into effect 7 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, and continue to 9 p.m.

The warning area also includes Androscoggin, Cumberland, York, Kennebec and Sagadahoc counties; southern Franklin, Somerset and Oxford counties; and coastal Washington and Hancock counties.

Snow is expected to begin Wednesday morning, continue through the day and then taper off in the evening. Heaviest snowfall amounts will be across southern New Hampshire and southern interior and coastal sections of Maine.

Total snow accumulations are expected to range from 6 to 10 inches. Wind chill values Wednesday night may go as low as 1 below.
