Winter solstice drumming at Gibbs

Dec 16, 2013

Washington — All are invited to join the Great Thunder Chicken Drum as people gather to honor the winter solstice and drum for peace and healing at Gibbs Library, 40 Old Union Road, Sunday, Dec. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This is a time to draw inward and reflect on the year past. All around us, things may seem to be wildly out of kilter, shifting between positive and negative. It is for us to find the center of balance and calm; and to enhance peace and healing throughout Mother Earth.

Everyone is welcome to bring songs, poetry and their own drums and rattles; come a few minutes to visit with fellow drummers. A cleansing smudge is offered, as well.

All traditions are honored. Participants will be drumming with the great gathering in Temoaya, Mexico, and around the world. For more information or directions, call 993-2294.
