Winter Music Together for babies, parents

Jan 08, 2014

Rockport — Jess Day of Midcoast Music Together will offer a Babies Music Together class this winter at the Picker Family Resource Center, located on the Pen Bay Medical Center campus. The eight-week class for parents and babies newborn to age eight months begins Friday, Jan. 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Research has demonstrated that babies benefit greatly from early exposure to music. Music Together is an international research-based early childhood music program. In a typical class, 12 babies and their parents or caregivers meet weekly for 45 minutes to experience new songs, chants, lullabies, movement activities and instrumental play; connect with other families with babies; and learn about their babies’ development through music-making experiences. All participating families receive two Music Together CDs, an illustrated songbook and a baby parent guidebook to use at home. The cost for this eight-week class is $115 (materials included).

Classes will be held Jan. 24 and 31; Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28; and March 7 and 14. To register for the class, call instructor Day at 593-6645 or visit midcoastmusictogether.com. Payment plans are available upon request.
