Windy Wednesday: caution advised
Gray — The National Weather Service has dropped the Winter Weather Advisory as of mid-afternoon Wednesday, March 26. The Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. for Knox and Waldo counties due to strong winds as an intense low pressure system passes through the Gulf of Maine.
Winds will increase and peak in the afternoon or early evening. Winds are out of the northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph. High-profile vehicles may have difficulties, especially on bridges.
A Wind Advisory means strong winds of 31 to 39 mph or gusts of 46 to 57 mph can lead to damage due to downed tree limbs and scattered power outages. Also in the advisory target area are Androscoggin County; and interior Cumberland and York counties.
