Windjammers seek singers
Camden — The Windjammer Barbershop Chorus is looking for some new members, men who like to sing with others and would enjoy discovering the world of barbershop harmony.
Anyone interested in seeing what the Windjammers and this style of music are about is invited to come to a rehearsal any Monday night at 6:30 p.m. in the Lion’s Den, Lions Lane off Knowlton Street and give barbershop singing a try. Reading music is not a necessity, but being able to carry a good tune is required for this great genre of a cappella music.
For more information, call 832-5127 or visit camdenmebarbershoppers.org. On Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m., the Windjammers will do a combined rehearsal with the Nor’easter Barbershop Chorus of Bath at the Lincoln County Assembly of God Church on Old Route 1, Damariscotta. Both choruses have annual shows coming up. For more information, call Kathy Robitaille, director of both choruses, at 542-7699.
The Windjammers’ annual show is set for Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Rockport Opera House; guest quartets will be Port City Sound and Downtown Crossing (2011 medalists). Tickets are $15, $12 for students and those older than 60, are available by calling and at HAV II in Camden.
