Windjammers sail past Mariners in competitive matchMedomak Valley downed by Morse of Bath
High school golf teams from Knox and part of Lincoln counties were in action Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18, with Camden Hills, Medomak Valley and Oceanside looking for links victories.
Camden Hills was the lone squad to hole a win, remaining unbeaten on the season, as the Windjammers bested host Oceanside, while Medomak Valley fell to Morse of Bath in a road match.
The following is a recap of both matches:
Camden Hills 168, Oceanside 173
At Rockland Golf Club Sept. 18, the Mariners and Windjammers went toe-to-toe and club-to-club in a highly competitive match, with the Windjammers remaining unbeaten by five strokes. Camden Hills finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole team stroke total of 168 to 173 for the Mariners.
Camden Hills' individual scores included: Daulton Wickenden 36, Drew Holt 44, Julian Starbird 52, Drew Long 41, Jared Garske 47 and Austin Pohlman 58.
Oceanside's individual scores included: Nick Mazurek 41, Reilly Flanagan 38, Nate Hersom 52, Zeke Hamlin 45, Griffin Lombardo 49 and Zach Bernard 51.
Wickenden shot even-par 36 on the course's front nine hole to earn medalist honors.
Camden Hills is 6-0 and Oceanside 4-3 on the fall season.
Morse 199, Medomak Valley 211
At Bath Sept. 18, the Panthers could not outshoot the Shipbuilders and were downed by 12 strokes. Morse finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole team stroke total of 199 to 211 for the Panthers (1-5).
The individual results, with Morse golfers listed first, were: Tyler Emerson (58) lost to Evan Parsons (51); Cam Allaire (53) lost to Pat McKenna (51); Aaron Smeltzer (53) lost to Wes McKenna (48); J.P. Lobley (55) lost to Clayton Heniman (50); and Adam Wilcox (50) tied Andrew LaCavera (50). Oliver Cruze also shot 59 for Morse.
Wilcox, Heniman and LaCavera, all of whom shot 50, were tri-medalists.
