Rockport — On a day where Midcoast high school sporting events were, by and large, washed out due to steady rain in the area, the lone game in town on Monday, May 19 proved to be the Medomak Valley and Camden Hills boys tennis match, played indoor at the Midcoast Recreation Center.

The match was played in pro sets and featured two teams moving in different directions in the Heal Point Standings.

The Windjammers perennially are one of the top teams in Eastern Class B, while the winless Panthers have been hampered by lack of numbers all season, more often than not forfeiting at third singles.

That again was the case Monday as the Windjammers had no trouble with the Panthers and sailed to a 5-0 victory.

The individual results, with Camden Hills players listed first, were: In singles, Matt Morse beat Ezra Hinkley, 8-2; Luke Burstein beat Richard Kinney, 8-2; and Alex Forcillo won by forfeit over Medomak Valley.

In doubles, Josiah Simko and James Annis beat Aaron Smeltzer and Devin Field, 8-2; and Josh Pitcairn and Eric Blohm beat Greg Wadsworth and Cyril Miller, 8-1.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, Camden Hills (6-2, 39.7222 points) is fourth, while Medomak Valley (0-8, no points) is 16th. Mount Desert Island (7-1, 61.5972 points) is first in the 17-team region. The top 12 teams qualify for the playoffs.
