Augusta — The Camden Hills girls soccer team wrapped its second straight dominating season in the Class A ranks on the road on Monday, Oct. 17 with a 7-0 victory over Cony.
Seven players contributed to the Windjammer scoring attack, including Charlotte Messer (goal, 2 assists), Kristina Kelly (goal, assist), Eliza Roy (goal), Bryn Anderson (goal), Ella Pierce (goal), Izzy Gutheinz (goal) and Sarah Contento (goal).
Camden Hills held a dominating 32-1 edge in shots.
The Windjammers will participate in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A championship game on Thursday, Oct. 20 against Bangor back in Augusta.
“We played very well and did a nice job defensively to limit Cony in their offensive attack,” said Camden Hills coach Meredith Messer. “We finished well and passed the ball very well. We are looking forward to the KVAC game against Bangor later this week.”
In two seasons in Class A, Camden Hills has compiled a 29-3 record, with a 1-3 mark against Bangor.
In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class A North, Camden Hills (12-1, 159.1837 points) is second, while Bangor (14-0, 184.6939 points) is first in the 14-team region. The top 10 teams qualify for the playoffs.
Camden Hills’ win over Cony has yet to be added to the Heal Point Standings, thus, the Windjammers are 13-1.
This season, the Windjammers have outscored opponents 94-10 in 14 games, with eight shutouts.
