Winchenbach announces reelection campaign
Ellen Winchenbach, Republican of Waldoboro, has announced her candidacy for reelection to the Maine House of Representatives in the new District 91, which includes the towns of Friendship, Waldoboro, Washington and part of Union.
Elected in 2012, Winchenbach currently represents House District 50, which includes Bremen, Nobleboro, Waldoboro and part of Jefferson. The changing of the districts was made because of a constitutionally mandated reapportionment in 2013
Winchenbach grew up in Waldoboro and graduated from Medomak Valley High School in 1975. She has been a licensed cosmetologist for 38 years and the owner of Hair Country for 27 years. Married to Craig Winchenbach, an automotive technician at Wink’s Auto Service in Waldoboro, she has two sons, Darren and Evan, as well as her daughter-in-law Megan and three grandchildren.
She currently serves on two joint standing committees. They are Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development and Marine Resources.
At the local level Winchenbach is serving her third year on the Waldoboro Budget Committeee.
She is the secretary of the Waldoboro Lions Club and the Waldoboro Lions Foundation, and a member of the Waldoboro Firefighters Auxiliary. Just recently she served on the search committee for a new town manager in Waldoboro.
Winchenbach is a proponent of small business and education and believes a strong work ethic is the key to a successful future. She is running a Traditionally Financed Campaign.
