North Port, Fla. — William M. Hill, son of William M. Hill Sr. and Signe Hill, passed away suddenly at his home in North Port, Fla., on Feb. 24, 2012.
Memorial services will be held in South Thomaston on Sunday, July 1 at noon at the Finnish Congregational Church, Route 131, St. George Road. Refreshments will be served at the St. George Grange Hall located on Wiley’s Corner Road. All family, friends and neighbors are invited to attend following the memorial.
William M. Hill, named after William M. Sr., was born at the home of his grandparents Matti and Vilma Hill in Smalley Town, part of St. George, on May 17, 194l. Bill is survived by sister, Gloria Hill Dennison; brother, Richard Hill and his wife, Sheila, of Spruce Head; wife, Carole Hill of Tyngsboro, Mass.; daughter, Anna-Lisa Hill of Hampton, N.H.; son, William M. Hill III and partner Johnnie Bowls from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and stepson, James Porter and wife, Jennifer Porter, and their children of Tyngsboro, Mass.; nephews, Scott Hodgkins and Mark Hodgkins and his companion Carolyn Hall of Yarmouth; niece, Kristina Hill Duncan of Rockland; grandnieces, Ashley Duncan of Rockland and Kaylee Hodgkins of Gordo, Ala.; grandnephew, Reece Hall of Yarmouth; and an aunt, Lempi Johnson of Pensacola, Fla.
Bill was a charter member of Finnish American Society of Maine. He attended the Finnish Church with his family before locating to Florida. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Eastern Star member while living in Billerica, Mass. He attended the Congregation Church in North Yarmouth when returning to Maine.
