Rockland — It was a beautiful day weather-wise on the links Monday, July 7 as the Maine State Golf Association held a junior tournament at the Rockland Golf Club.

And, as it turned out, it was a picture perfect day for Camden Hills Regional High School student Daulton Wickenden.

Wickenden, who will be a senior this fall, shot a 2-over par 72 to win the tournament, but several Midcoast golfers also were well represented as five from the area finished among the top 13 of the 38 participants.

Cole Anderson, who attends Camden-Rockport Middle School, finished tied for second with a 6-over 76 on the day, while Bailey Plourde, who attends Lincoln Academy of Newcastle and golfs out of the Samoset Resort in Rockport, shot an 8-over 80 to finish sixth.

Drew Long shot an 11-over 81 to finish eighth and Drew Holt shot a 14-over 84 to finish tied for 12. Long and Holt also attend CHRHS.

A MSGA junior tournament for those 12 and younger also was held Monday at RGC, as was an adult seniors event on the busy course.
