Wet conditions create changes for Oct. 16 athletic events

Oceanside and Nokomis quarterfinal field hockey playoff moved to Oct. 17

With soggy conditions throughout the state, a handful of Midcoast high school and middle school athletic events scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 16 have been postponed.

As of early afternoon Tuesday, multiple varsity games have been postponed or have seen venue changes, along with the Oceanside junior varsity boys soccer game against Lincoln Academy at Newcastle, which has been canceled due to poor field conditions.

The following is a summary of Tuesday's athletic events, with time and venue changes where applicable:

The Eastern Class B quarterfinal playoff game featuring No. 7 Oceanside at No. 2 Nokomis in Newport has been postponed to Wednesday, Oct. 17. The game will begin at 3 p.m.

The Lincoln Academy at Oceanside girls soccer game will be played at 3:30 p.m. on Pendleton Field in Thomaston, while the varsity boys game now be played at Point Lookout in Northport, also at 3:30 p.m. The boys game originally was to be played in Newcastle, but the field at that school is unplayable.

The Belfast at Mount View boys soccer game will be played at 3:30 p.m. in Thorndike, while the varsity girls game between the schools, scheduled to be played at 6 p.m. in Belfast, has been postponed to Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 3:30 p.m.

The George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill at Searsport girls soccer game has been postponed to Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 3:30 p.m. at Point Lookout in Northport.

The Medomak Valley and Gardiner boys and girls soccer games have been postponed to Wednesday, Oct. 17. Game times will be 3:30 p.m.

The boys and girls soccer games between Camden Hills and Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield are on as scheduled (see online scoreboard for details).

The Busline League golf championships are slated to be played, but have been moved to the Rockland Golf Club. Tee time is 3:15 p.m. The event originally was scheduled for the Megunitcook Golf Course in Rockport.
