West coast dogs look for new homes in Maine
Our pet pick of the week Lyla. Lyla is a petite 2-year-old Norfolk terrier. She is one of 16 dogs that flew all the way from Los Angeles to our shelter to find a second chance and a loving home in Maine. Incredulously, thousands of dogs just like Lyla and her companions are euthanized each year in California shelters. Fortunately, we had the room and a list of adopters who are waiting to adopt small dogs. If you are interested in adopting Lyla or one of her fellow bi-coastal travel companions, visit the shelter to learn how.
Looking for that perfect holiday gift or want to treat yourself? How about our 2013 Pets Calendar. Its full of wonderful photos of beloved pets from our supporters along with animals who have been adopted through the shelter. Calendars are only $10, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the shelter. They are available at the shelter and at more than two dozen local businesses. For more information, call 594-2200.
Thank you to Trackside Station and Loyal Biscuit for another successful Pints for Paws to benefit the shelter, raising $1,600 to help homeless animals. What a great crowd that came out in support of the shelter. Thank you to all who participated, the businesses who donated raffle prizes and Paddy Mills for the live, musical entertainment.
Save the date: On Friday, Dec. 7 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., 3 Dogs Cafe in Rockport will be hosting the third annual 3 Dog Nite event to benefit the shelter. It's a great night of scrumptious hors d'oeuvres, music, cocktails, friends, raffles and fun. Advanced tickets are $15 and can be purchased at 3 Dogs Cafe, The Loyal Biscuit, Pet Quarters and at the shelter. We hope to see you there.
A safe and happy Thanksgiving to all.
