Republican Carole Gartley challenged incumbent Joan Welsh, D-Rockport, for the House District 46 seat representing Camden and Rockport on Nov. 6.

Rockport voters favored Welsh with a 1,141 to 965 vote and Camden residents also decided to return Welsh to the House with a 2,039 to 1,017 margin, according to unofficial results from both towns.

Prior to the election, Welsh was serving in her second term in the House of Representatives and served on the Joint Standing Committee on Environment and Natural Resources. Gartley has not held public office.
