Washington man, woman arrested on drug charges

Rockland — Two people were arrested just after midnight Jan. 2 for trafficking and possession of crack cocaine after police stopped the pair for erratic driving, according to police.

Rockland Police Officers Jacob Shirey and Andrew Redden stopped the suspicious vehicle on Payne Avenue. The driver, Dedrick Huff, 44, of Washington and New York City, failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested for operating under the influence, according to a press release from Rockland Police.

While searching Huff, officers found a large amount of assorted drugs. Huff was in possession of approximately 35 grams of crack cocaine, 5 grams of cocaine, 45 oxymorphone pills, 40 methadone pills and a small amount of suboxone, the release stated.

Huff was arrested for aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine, unlawfully furnishing oxymorphone, possession of cocaine, possession of methadone, and possession of suboxone, said the release.

A passenger in Huff's vehicle, Nicole Leigh, 23, of Washington was on bail and probation. Leigh was arrested on a probation violation, and when she was taken to the jail, she was also found to be in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine. Leigh was charged with violation of probation, violating conditions of release, trafficking in prison contraband, and possession of crack cocaine, said the release.
