Washington man arrested for stealing truck
Rockland — A 35-year-old Washington man was arrested for theft Feb. 8 involving the November disappearance of a 2000 Tacoma truck stolen from Youngs Hill in Washington, said Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison.
A warrant for Daniel Leigh's arrest was issued in November. The truck was recovered a few days later smashed into a tree in Liberty, Dennison said.
Deputy Lance Mitchell stopped a vehicle Leigh was in Feb. 8 with Deputy John Hansen assisting. Inside the car were two children, ages 14 and 3.
During a search of the vehicle, Hansen found a mirror with pill residue on it in the glove box of the car and a straw. Under the front seat, he found a small pill container, containing approximately 20 oxycodone 15 milligram pills, said Dennison.
Leigh and another passenger, Paula Lopez, 38, also of Washington, admitted to cutting up the pills and snorting them while in the vehicle with the children, said the sheriff.
Lopez was also arrested.
