Warren’s entertaining past explored
Warren — Music and Theater from Warren's Past is the subject of the Warren Historical Society’s monthly meeting Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Dr. Campbell House and Museum, 225 Main St., in the village.
The society welcomes all for refreshments and a program on Warren's past. One of the earliest images in the society's photo collection relating to music dates from 1900. It pictures Gertrude E. Newcomb, who married Frank D. Rowe, Superintendent of Schools in Warren, in 1917. She was the organist for the Christian Science Church in Rockland for 40 years and also was one of the organizers for the Warren Women's Club in 1931. This club organized many musical and theatrical events for Warren's benefit.
