Warren Planning Board chairman resigns after 22 years
Warren — Peter Krakoff was a member of the Warren Planning Board for 22 years, serving as chairman for 20 years until he recently resigned. Krakoff said his initial interest in public service developed after involvement on the mining ordinance committee, but now it is time for him to move on.
He acknowledged that his decision was influenced by the long-running controversy surrounding CRC Health Group's proposal for a methadone clinic and a lawsuit filed against the town.
"It was a lot of work and is an extremely difficult and contentious issue," Krakoff said.
People can have their own opinions about his time on the board, he said, adding that some will say he did a good job and others will disagree with his position on the methadone clinic.
Krakoff said he has no future plans relative to town service.
A special town meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Warren Community School. Voters will consider whether to authorize up to $60,000 in legal expenses affiliated with the CRC Health Group lawsuit.

An absolutely thankless job. The citizens of Warren are lucky that anyone runs for these elected offices. Very easy to sit back and criticize.
