Warren Garden Club holds plant sale May 27

Beauty of Moscow lilac is one of the many plants available at the Warren Garden Club's plant sale May 27.

Warren — The Warren Field and Garden Club holds its annual plant sale Saturday, May 27, from 8 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. Again this year, it will be held at the Odd Fellows Hall on the corner of routes 1 and 90 in Warren.

The sale includes local, garden-dug perennials, shrubs and trees, and houseplants. SPerennials include: European ginger, single and double (multiplex) bloodroot, primroses, toad lily (tricyrtis hirta), double pink peony "Sarah Bernhardt," daylily "Bama Music" and "Lavender Blush."

Also available will be many hosta varieties, including Fragrant Bouquet, Lakeside Ripples, Sum and Substance, Bennie McRae (fragrant), Stiletto, Lemon-lime. Shrubs and trees offered include lilacs (Beauty of Moscow and pink varieties), deutzia, hydrangea "Annabelle," Kolkwitzia amabilis (beauty bush), holly "Blue Princess," crabapple "Cardinal," forsythia and red Japanese maple.There will be  assorted perennials donated by the Green Thumb.A  master gardener will be on hand to answer any questions.

This year some of the funds raised will be used on projects to beautify Warren, including revamping the gardens at Payson Park, work at the Woolen Mill Park, Post Office, Congregational church, town signs and Historical Society.

As usual, the club will award two scholarships to local children wishing to attend Tanglewood Camp in Lincolnville. New members are welcome. For more information, call Diana Sewell at 273-2722 or Helene Rondeau at 273-2962.
