Waldoboro First Baptist Church League grows by leaps, bounds

Three weeks worth of scores, statistics in the books

Waldoboro — The Waldoboro First Baptist Church Men's Basketball League continues to grow by leaps and bounds as the popular wintertime adult recreational program has 19 teams in three divisions, with squads traveling from as far away as Augusta, Wiscasset, Boothbay and Camden to compete in the game the adult players still love.

Games are played in the church gymnasium off Route 1 next to Moody's Diner in Waldoboro.

The scores, standings and individual statistical leaders from the first three weeks of play include:

Division I

On Dec. 20, YMCA beat Ship City 68-59, Kay Construction outlasted Free Press 63-56 and Destiny edged Scrubs 62-59. On Dec. 9, Ship City bested Destiny 102-54, Leighton Associates beat Scrubs 78-49 and YMCA downed Free Press 49-46. On Dec. 6, Leighton Associates edged Free Press 62-57, Ship City beat Scrubs 89-50 and Kay Construction upended Destiny 55-34.

Standings — YMCA 2-0, Leighton Associates 2-0, Kay Construction 2-0, Ship City 2-1, Destiny 1-2, Free Press 0-3 and Scrubs 0-3.

On Dec. 18, Denman Builders beat Midcoast Masonary 67-36, Laurel Wood Floors bested Lincoln County News 78-45 and Warriors beat Insanity 102-46. On Dec. 11, Laurel downed Midcoast Masonary 63-56, Warriors beat Denman Builders 59-42 and Insanity bested LCN 55-48. On Dec. 4, Warriors bested LCN 84-53, Insanity edged Midcoast 51-50 and Laurel beat Denman 53-43.

Standings — Warriors 3-0, Laurel Wood Floors 3-0, Insanity 2-1, Denman Builders 1-2, Midcoast Masonary 0-3 and Lincoln County News 0-3.

On Dec. 17, Friendship bested Realtree 56-36, Teludyne beat Lanphere & Sons 52-45 and Borealis Breads outlasted Cornerstone 49-41. On Dec. 10, Lanphere beat Friendship 54-41, Cornerstone upended Realtree 68-39 and Teludyne beat Borealis 55-31. On Dec. 3, Teludyne outraced Cornerstone 82-38, Borealis edged Friendship 37-31 and Lanphere beat Realtree 60-35.

Standings — Teludyne 3-0, Lanphere & Sons 2-1, Borealis Breads 2-1, Cornerstone 1-2, Friendship 1-2 and Realtree 0-3.
