Waldoboro Fire Department open house showcases safety, fun
Waldoboro — Engine rides, historical photographs, and a bounce castle were just a few of the activities available to the public at the Waldoboro Fire Department open house on Oct. 12.
The open house capped off a week of outreach events including school visits by safety officers, Sparky the Fire Dog and Smokey the Bear.
Deputy Fire Chief Dale Smith said the intent of the event was to increase safety awareness, particularly in younger members of the community.
According to Smith, the Waldoboro Fire Department is looking to replace two separate vehicles with a combination rescue pumper and extrication truck in order to save the town money while not compromising public safety.
An interactive smoke trailer designed to simulate the experience of escaping a burning building and Lincoln County's new hazardous materials trailer were also on display.
