Waldo Kinderkonzert tickets going fast
Waldoboro — Two of the three Portland Symphony Orchestra’s Brass KinderKonzerts: Fire in the Big Top! Monday, Oct. 29 at the Waldo Theatre are sold out, but tickets remain for the 11:30 a.m. program.
The new commission for narrator and brass quintet by composer Delvyn Case tells the story of Tom and Maggie, two children living in 19th-century Portland. The children sneak off to watch the circus and are surprised by an adventure they will never forget. Children and adults are invited to the interactive performance combining dramatic narration and exciting music.
KinderKonzerts are designed to introduce children to live symphonic music through fun and interactive programs with PSO musicians. The series allows children to explore the different families of orchestral instruments, including brass, strings, woodwinds and percussion.
The concerts are 35 to 40 minutes in length and geared toward children age 3 to 7. Tickets are $4. Eighteen performances are scheduled Wednesday, Oct. 17 through Feb. 28 at eight different schools and communities throughout Maine. Additional performance dates may be announced. To reserve tickets for the Waldo show, call Janet McMahon at 832-6067.
