By Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County | Aug 31, 2012

Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County may be looking for you! We are currently looking for a partner family and for volunteers to help us as we build our second home.

Groundwork has started for the home, which will be located off Old Country Road in Searsport, on land donated by the town of Searsport. In mid-September, we will be looking for volunteer help to frame in the two-story home. Our first need is for individuals with carpentry skills, along with people who are willing to do the unskilled work, such as carrying lumber to the carpenters, or are willing to learn.

If you are interested in volunteering now or later in the process, please to go to our website, www.habitatofwaldocounty.org, and complete the volunteer registration form.

We are looking for three major qualifications for our partner family:

            1. You have need; do not own your own home; and are a resident of Waldo County.

            2. You have the ability to pay a 0% interest mortgage, real estate taxes and insurance; do not have liens, excessive credit debt or multiple bills in collection; have not declared bankruptcy in the last 18 months; pay your rent on time; and have had a stable income for the last 12 months. Your annual income falls within the following guidelines:

Family size    Min. Income   Max Income

                                    2              13,000            34,700

            3.  You are willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County and fulfill the “sweat equity” hours required, attend home buyer classes, budgeting    workshops and participate in Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County events.

If you meet these qualifications and would like to know more, call 338-2344 and leave a message. We will then send you a pre-application to fill out and return.
