Vinalhaven news

Christmas has come and gone, and depending on which list they were on, there are some happy “nice” kids or some disappointed “naughty” ones on Vinalhaven today. Children were able to send their Christmas letters and wish lists to Saint Nick via the island’s Santa House in the park next to Camden National Bank. Lil Parker and Ethel Jones acted as Santa’s Helpers, delivering the letters to Kris Kringle and making sure he wrote back to each child. Parker and Jones — members of WeGAS — raised money through a Bingo over the summer to decorate the park’s trees and help spruce up the house with fresh paint, curtains, a wreath and a homemade sign above the mail slot. Below are just a few of the letters from the kids, and even one child at heart. Hopefully they all got what they wished for!

Dear Santa,

I have been very good. Please bring me a pink dress. Please bring me a jump rope. Please bring me a box and a picture of a baby. Please bring me a doctor kit. I would like some angel wings. Thank you Santa.

Dear Santa,

Can I please have a printing set? P.S. I hope you have a good Christmas.

Dear Santa,

How are you? I have been a good boy this year. This year for Christmas I would like a blue bike, or a John Deere Gator (a small one my size). I have a new baby sister and I give her lots of hugs and kisses. Could you please put something under my tree for her?

P.S. I will leave some goodies for you and the reindeer. Fly safe!

Dear Santa,

Can I please have a hula-hoop for Christmas? I will leave a gift for you at my house. Thank you.

Dear Santa,

I’m sorry for being bad this year. I am going to try to be good. I hope you forgive me.

Dear Santa,

For Christmas, can I please have a car and a race track.

Dear Santa,

I love you. Please bring me a red kitchen and small horse for my dolls. Also, a Kindle and pink bike with red pedals. You’re the best Santa. I have a little tree in my room, could you leave five presents under there too? I will leave you M&M cookies on the counter with milk.

Dear Santa,

I would like an iPad mini and a control spider.

Dear Santa,

Merry Christmas. I have been a good girl today. I helped Dad sweep the floor but my broom breaked. My sister is good because she didn’t open the presents under the tree. You can’t open them until Christmas. Santa, I would like roller skates. Thank you.

Dear Santa,

I’ve tried to be a good girl this year. Here are some things I want for Christmas: Breyers, an iTunes card, a Pillow Pet, a four wheeler for me; Muck boots for my brother; a catnip mouse for my cats; a girlfriend for my horse; a sweater for my goat; socks, shaving cream, shampoo, razor blades and toothpaste for my dad; fuzzy socks for my mom; ice scrapers for my mom and dad; fuzzy socks for me; an iPod for my brother; and a cat house for my cats.”

Dear Santa,

I hope you are having a wonderful year. You bring great joy to all who know and love you. Santa, your spirit is what keeps the world positive, with your smile, kindness, and just you being you! Thank you for being you and giving us joy, kindness and love. I believe.
