Vesper Hill Trustees to celebrate Children's Chapel
Rockport — The Rockport Public Library is hosting an open house for the Vesper Hill Children’s Chapel, which celebrated 50 years in August 2012.
The Children’s Chapel was established by the generosity and vision of Helene Bok, a local philanthropist. In a recent Camden Herald article by Kim Lincoln, Helene’s son Gordon Bok said, “building such a place of contemplation was something his mother always dreamed of doing."
The Vesper Hill Trustees are inviting the public to help create a scrapbook and oral history collection by sharing stories and memories about this location. Come and share wedding memories, a first visit with the children or time spent in “contemplation” walking through the gardens. Help the trustees commemorate this milestone of one of Rockport’s greatest treasures.
The open house will be held at the Rockport Opera House, lower level meeting room on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m.
