Vaitones to return to business manager post
Rockland — Regional School Unit 13 Business Manager Scott Vaitones confirmed Feb. 17 that he will return to his job with the district.
Vaitones said he is unsure the exact date he will be back in the office because the board's attorney, Campbell Badger, and interim superintendent Michael Wilhelm still need to meet.
The board voted Feb. 13 to resolve the charges against Vaitones and to have the district's attorney draft a settlement agreement. Vaitones said he is unsure when the settlement agreement will be finalized.
Vaitones was put on paid administrative leave in mid-November by former Superintendent Lew Collins during a disagreement with budget figures. The board held a termination hearing for the business manager, but agreed to settle prior to its completion.
Collins, who resigned in December, served his last day with the district Feb. 14. As part of an agreement, he will be paid through December 2014.
Wilhelm's first day in the district office is Feb. 18.
