USM faculty play Music at Noon
Rockland — Bay Chamber Concerts, in partnership with the Farnsworth Art Museum and Allen Insurance and Financial, will present the third in a series of four Music at Noon concerts featuring faculty members from the University of Southern Maine School of Music Wednesday, March 12, in the Farnsworth’s library.
Music and art lovers are invited to attend this intimate lunchtime concert where they can enjoy a simple, tasty lunch from Atlantic Baking Co. while listening to a romantic and colorful program of Beethoven, Saint-Saens and Glinka. This is Bay Chamber’s second year presenting the lunchtime concert series, where admission to the museum, following the concert, is included in the $25 ticket price ($10 younger than 21).
The March 12 Music at Noon concert will feature three distinguished musicians — violinist Robert Lehmann, bassoonist Wren Saunders and pianist George Lopez. The USM School of Music faculty is made up of professional performers, scholars, and mentors. Offering undergraduate degrees in performance, music education, jazz studies, piano pedagogy and music/liberal arts, the School of Music also sponsors programs for pre-college musicians and delivers professional training at the master's level in composition, conducting, music education, jazz studies and performance.
Music at Noon performances are offered on the second Wednesday of the month through April. For more information about the Music at Noon series or any of Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School’s offerings, call 236-2823 or visit baychamberconcerts.org.
