Massive yacht — The World — brings 200 passengers to Rockland
Rockland — From Oct. 12-14 is the inaugural visit to Rockland of The World - Residences at Sea and its 200 passengers.
At 644 feet, it is the largest privately-owned residential yacht in the world, according to a news release from the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce. A chamber of commerce representative will be onboard the vessel assisting with regional information.
Since its launch in 2002, it continuously circumnavigates the globe, spending time in the most exotic and well-traveled ports, allowing its residents to wake up in a new destination every few days. Each of the residents own one or more of the 165 private onboard residences, and collectively, they own the ship, ensuring that their experiences are far beyond current luxury travel standards, according to the news release.
