Upcoming events at Vose Library

Mar 21, 2014

Union — Union's Vose Library, located at 392 Common Road, announces its April schedule.

On Thursday, April 3, at 7 p.m. Vose Library invite visitors to look at food and fiction in a new, creative way. Those familiar with the annual Edible Book Festivals often celebrated in April, will have an idea what this event will be like.

Volunteers will cook and bake clever bookish foods, which will connect in some way to books in the Vose Library collection. The food and book connection may be very obvious, like Blueberry Muffins for "If you give a Moose a Muffin," or not so obvious, like the Goat Cheese and Apple Tarts that were mentioned in "The Hunger Games," by Suzanne Collins. Enjoy entertainment and socializing while supporting the library. Suggested $5 donation.

To make something for the Eat Your Words event, check out the Vose Library’s Eat Your Words Pinterest board at pinterest.com/voselib/eat-your-words.

Learn counted cross-stitch four Saturdays, April 5, 12, 19 and May as the library hosts a class for kids in second to fourth grade and their adult companions. Sign up at the library. Limit four pairs, $15 materials fee per pair.

The library's Stash Buster Sale is for all the fiber arts, including quilting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, spinning, rug hooking, you name it! Like a book sale, neighbors have donated unused material from their stashes and we will sell it at bargain prices. The sale will be held Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m.

While shopping, enjoy a Bake Sale with treats and coffee. Check out the Mini Book Sale, including lots of vintage books.

Consider donating materials that are sitting around not being used. Fabric, yarn, embroidery floss, sewing materials, notions, patterns, magazines and more! Are you sick of a project? UFOs and PIGS (those Un-Finished Objects and Projects in Grocery Sacks) welcome! Drop off donations at the library.

With a success this year, we will turn this into an annual fundraising event. All proceeds support the library.

The library recognizes National Library Week with two Amnesty Weeks: Return your overdue items free of fees between April 13 and 26. Check shelves for those stragglers and send them home.
