Unity, Maine – Unity College students are known for their interest in the environment, but some have exceptional drama skills, demonstrated yearly with presentations by the Unity College Drama Troupe.

The drama troupe will present The Girl the Girl with the Golden Locks, April 26 – 27, at the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts, 42 Depot Street, Unity, Maine.  The first show is an evening presentation on Saturday at 7 p.m.  A Sunday matinee will be offered at 3 p.m.  The performances are free and open to the public.

Co-Directed by Candace Robinson ’14 and Geordi Hall ’16, the play tells the story of Agent Gold, a top Agent in the FBI … the Fairytale Bureau of Intelligence.  Agent Gold and her crack team of Agents work herd to take down public enemy number one, the Three Bears.  With time running out, they must race to stay one step ahead of the bears to save the entire Kingdom.

“This is a family friendly production,” said Robinson.  “The performers and fellow director Geordi are excited about this production.  The drama troupe does not typically perform family oriented production, so this is special.”

Robinson says that the play is rife with interesting twists and amusing dialogue, and a good bit of action.

“There are conflicts, explosions, a mild mannered cow, and so much more,” said Robinson.  “Students have been working hard on this production and will deliver an exceptional theatrical experience for theatregoers.”

In recent years Unity College has gained national attention for a variety of achievements including its focus on sustainability science, the vanguard in the fight for the mitigation of global climate change.  Other ground-breaking “green” innovations include the award-winning TerraHaus, the first student residence on a college or university campus built to the Passive House standard, the most energy efficient building standard in the world, and its first-in-the-nation decision to divest from investments in fossil fuels, igniting a growing national movement in higher education.

Unity College is a private college in rural Maine that provides dedicated, engaged students with a liberal arts education that emphasizes the environment and natural resources. Unity College graduates are prepared to be environmental stewards, effective leaders, and responsible citizens through active learning experiences within a supportive community.
