Union race track named after maintenance director
Union — During the recent Union Fair the race track was dedicated to longtime maintenance director Arthur Kennedy.
Kennedy started working with his brother Melvin on maintaining the Union Fair track and took over the responsibility himself in 1953.
Kennedy starts early every spring leveling and raking the track and filling in the washouts caused by the annual flooding. He works the track weekly getting it into the proper shape and has logged thousands of miles on the half-mile track. A testimony to Kennedy's care of the track was realized this year during the Howard Hawes Memorial Pace when a track record was set.
