Union man injured in Burkettville crash
Burkettville — Appleton Fire Department, Knox County Sheriffs and Union Ambulance responded to the scene of a two-vehicle crash directly in front of Burkettville General Store on Jan. 2. The accident occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m.
A red 2004 Chevy Cavalier operated by Michael Noyes of Union was traveling east on Route 105 and started to turn left into the parking lot of Burkettville General Store when Noyes failed to yield to an oncoming 1998 Dodge Pickup truck with a plow driven by Kyle Dinsmore of Warren, according to police. The plow of the truck struck the Cavalier on the passenger side, said Knox County Sheriff's Deputy John Palmer.
"The plow [on the truck] took the brunt of the impact," said Palmer.
Palmer said he expects the car is a total loss; the Dodge sustained damage to the front passenger side bumper and was driven from the scene, said Palmer.
Noyes was transported by Union Ambulance to Pen Bay Medical Center, Palmer said, adding injuries at the scene appeared to be minor.
Palmer said Noyes was issued a summons for failure of a left-turning vehicle to yield right of way.
