Union chamber fall conference set for Nov. 16
Union — The Union Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2012 Fall Conference will be held on Friday, Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Union Masonic Lodge on Sennebec Road.
This year’s conference will provide a very full evening of information, discussion with opportunities for specific questions and answers. Speakers include Dan Wyman of Allen Insurance and Financial providing an overview of the health insurance mandates and explanations of how the new law could affect businesses.
Wyman is an attorney and group benefits manager at Allen Insurance and Financial.
Holly Savage of Savage Oakes Vineyard & Winery will be discussing credit card readers that are now available for small businesses and will explain how a business can accept credit cards “on the go,” using only a cell phone or other handheld electronic device.
Rick Maltz, executive vice president and chief risk officer for Bangor Savings Bank, specializes in risk management, information security and compliance. Maltz will be presenting vital information on the important topic of data security with particular emphasis on the risk of data security breaches. Maltz will discuss current threats to data, who bears the risk if security is breached and the steps to take now to protect against unauthorized access.
Since the conference starts at 5:30 p.m., pizza and beer will be provided. The evening’s program is sponsored by Allen Insurance and Financial. The cost is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Please RSVP to be certain there is enough pizza on-hand.
