‘Uncommon Beauty’ at CRAFT gallery
Rockland — On Friday, Sept. 7, CRAFT gallery will begin the fall season with “The Uncommon Beauty of Common Things,” a display of found and discarded objects that, combined with skill and original techniques, are crafted into powerful works of art by Jesse Gillespie.
For those who missed his earlier exhibition this summer, CRAFT offers a new opportunity to view work by this young emerging artist from Rockland. Gillespie’s imaginative work recalls the art of assemblage and collage. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where he earned numerous prizes and a prestigious award for assemblage.
CRAFT will continue to show the latest work by twenty of Maine’s finest craft artists until Thanksgiving, when the gallery will close for the winter months. The gallery is located in the Courtyard at 12 Elm St., across from the Farnsworth Art Museum. For more information, call 594-0167 or visit craftonelm.com.
