Ugly sweater dance benefits humane society

Rockland — Rockland American Legion Post and Southend Grocery are teaming up to sponsor a benefit for Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County.

The Ugly Christmas Sweater Dance and Silent Auction will take place at the American Legion on Limerock Street Saturday, Dec. 7. The silent auction will run from 5 to 7 p.m., with dancing to follow from 7 to 11 p.m. Music will be provided by Crossin' Mason Dixon.

Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place ugliest sweaters, and a 50/50 raffle will be held. Participants can purchase a gift tag for $10 that will allow a pet gift box to be delivered to the humane society in their name.

The event is open to the public, and finger foods will be served. Admission will be $10; to qualify for a drawing, bring a pet food or pet supply product donation.
