U.S. Cellular invests $6.1 million across Maine
Portland — U.S. Cellular upgraded the wireless experience for its Maine customers in 2013 by investing $3.3 million in 4G LTE network enhancements across the state.
Currently, nearly 90 percent of U.S. Cellular customers have access to 4G LTE speeds that are up to 10 times faster than 3G and similar to a cable internet connection. The company also invested $1.6 million in upgrades to its existing high-speed network in Maine.
In addition to network enhancements, U.S. Cellular invested $1.1 million in Maine to upgrade its stores. Updates include an expanded device discovery zone, a connected devices engagement counter and a lounge. In 2013, the company built or renovated nine stores in Bangor, South Portland, Waterville, Augusta, Auburn, and Bucksport.
“These investments in our local communities allow us to provide the best wireless experience for our customers every time they use their phone or visit their local store,” said Matt Kasper, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in New England, in a news release. “Many people look at their smartphone as the one device they can’t be without, and we want our customers to know that they are doing business with a wireless company that cares about them and their community.”
