Tyler Chisholm Watkinson
Owls Head — Tyler Chisholm Watkinson, 28, died unexpectedly, Friday, June 27, 2014.
Born in Rockport, Dec. 29, 1985, he was the son of Ronald T. and Margaret A. Chisholm Watkinson. Tyler was educated locally, attending Gilford Butler School, Owls Head Central School, and graduating from Rockland District High School with the Class of 2004. After graduating, Tyler spent a few semesters at the University of Maine at Orono where he made many friends.
While in high school, Tyler was active on the baseball and soccer teams. He loved to play "pond hockey" on the Owls Head Fire Pond, and occasionally slapped the puck around at MRC in Rockport. He loved sports of all kinds, but was a devoted New England Patriots fan.
Following the path of his father and two older brothers, Tyler began his working career lobstering with his father off his boat, F/V Margaret Ann. Tyler loved the sea, and was happiest and most at ease when he was on the ocean. He savored every moment he spent fishing with his father.
Family was most important to Tyler. He looked forward to Wooden Ball Island camping trips, building bon fires and spending time with his four nieces who were the loves of his life. Spending time at Ginn Point with his grandparents, Peg and Don Chisholm was another favorite activity.
Tyler will be remembered as a happy guy who made friends wherever he went. He had an unforgettable smile that could light up a room. He loved to have a good laugh, a good card game with friends, and to pull a good prank. Most of all he had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone in need. His passing leaves a hole that will never be filled.
Predeceased by his maternal grandmother Margaret Chisholm, his paternal grandparents Thomas and Virginia Watkinson, two uncles, Randy Watkinson and Donald Chisholm; Tyler is survived by his parents, Ronald and Margaret Watkinson of Owls Head; his brothers, Ross Watkinson and his daughter Ryleigh; Lee Watkinson and his wife Darcie, and their children, Mariah, Noelle, Mallory, all of Owls Head; his maternal grandfather Donald Chisholm of Owls Head; a special friend Christa Palmer and her daughter Madalyn of Rockland; a large and loving extended family with many aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as a very close circle of friends who will miss him dearly.
A service of love and remembrance will be held Sunday, July 6, at 1 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland. A reception will follow immediately at 104 Limerock, adjacent to the funeral home.
