Two locals to compete for Lobster Chef of the YearCafe Miranda up for Best Farm to Table Restaurant
Portland — Harvest on the Harbor, announced the 2013 competitors for Maine Lobster Chef of the Year, and Top of the Crop: Maine’s Best Farm to Table Restaurant.
Competitors for the Lobster Chef of the Year Competition include: Chef Jon Gaboric from Natalie’s in Camden, Chef Shanna O’Hea from the Kennebunk Inn, Chef Brandon Blethen from Robert’s Maine Grill in Kittery and Chef Chris Long from Natalie’s in Camden
The Lobster Chef of the Year Competition is sponsored annually by the Maine Lobster Promotion Council.
Judges for the Lobster Chef of the Year Competition include: Kathleen Fleury from Down East Magazine, Chef Eric Flynn from the Harraseeket Inn and Emily Lane from Calendar Islands Maine Lobster Company
The emcee for the event will be Michele Ragussis, who was a finalist in the Next Food Network Star.
The Lobster Chef Competition will feature a dessert demonstration by Alysia Zoidis from East End Cupcakes. Wines for the Lobster Chef of the Year Competition will be paired with the chef’s dishes by Constellation Brand Wines.
Competitors for Top of the Crop: Maine’s Best Farm to Table Restaurant include: Chef Chad Conley from Gather in Yarmouth, Chef Kerry Altiero from Café Miranda in Rockland, Chef Richard Hanson from Cleonice Mediterranean Bistro in Ellsworth and Chef David Levi from Vinland in Portland
Judges for the Top of the Crop: Maine’s Best Farm to Table Restaurant include: Susan Axelrod from the Portland Press Herald/Maine Today Media, Chef Abby Freethy from Northwood’s Gourmet Girl in Greenville, Ted Quaday, newly-appointed executive director from the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. Emcee for Top of the Crop will be Sam Hayward from Fore Street who is one of the first to promote the Farm to Table movement in Maine.
A dessert cooking demonstration by Annette Roy Marin from Gone Loco’ Café and No View Farm & Bakery Coop in Rumford will be featured at this event. Wines for the Top of the Crop event will be paired with the chef’s dishes by Robert Kacher Selections from SoPo Wine.
