TV host of 'This Old House' to highlight Tool Box Bash
Rockport — Television host Steve Thomas of "This Old House" and "Renovation Nation" will be the special guest at an upcoming fundraiser for Midcoast Habitat for Humanity as they take on the challenge of launching a new weatherization program in Knox County.
Steve Thomas will mingle with the crowd on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Tool Box Bash fundraiser featuring slow-cooked barbecue from Graffam Brothers, the music of Mid Life Crisis, drinks and dessert. Tickets are $40 per person and include the chance to win the grand prize – a fully loaded tool box. The bash will take place at Midcoast Habitat’s ReStore in the red barn at 799 West St. (Route 90) across from Tolman Pond Market.
“Steve is a spokesperson for Habitat for Humanity International who really believes in our mission,” said Tia Anderson, Executive Director of Midcoast Habitat, in a news release. “He’s a very engaging speaker, and we’re lucky to have his support for the Tool Box Bash, which promises to be a lot of fun.” Anderson noted that tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the office at 236-6123.
Midcoast Habitat for Humanity will dedicate House No. 24 in Thomaston in late October, and has built another 19 houses around the world through its support of Habitat International. The new Weatherization Program will target even more Midcoast residents – those who live in homes that are inadequately or improperly insulated for our harsh winters.
“Our state has the oldest housing stock in the nation,” said Anderson, “so it makes sense to reach out to qualified low-income families in existing homes to help them lower their heating bills and live in a healthier, warmer environments.” Funds raised from the Tool Box Bash will benefit the Weatherization program, slated to begin this fall.
Sponsors for the Tool Box Bash include Home Depot, Cold Mountain Builders, Endeavour Builders, Albertson Builders and Services, and Paul Cavallo.
“We hope people will purchase Tool Box Bash tickets and come out to meet Steve Thomas, plus enjoy a great night for a good cause,” she said. For more information call Midcoast Habitat at 236-6123 or go to midcoasthabitat.org.
