Toys 'n' Turkeys Train to make Rockland stop
Rockland — The Maine Eastern Railroad will operate a special charity collection train Saturday, Nov. 16.
Named the Toys 'n' Turkeys Train, the special train will stop at all four of the railroad's stations to collect donations of new, unwrapped toys, frozen turkeys, and non-perishable food items.
The Maine Eastern Railroad will be accepting donations at the following stations:
Rockland, from 8 to 10 a.m. (4 Union St.)
Wiscasset, from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. (Railroad Avenue)
Bath, from 11:35 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Visitor Center, Bath)
Brunswick, from 1 to 2:15 p.m. (visitor center, Brunswick)
At all of the station stops, the Maine Eastern Railroad invites visitors to come aboard the uniquely decorated train, drop their donation, and enjoy refreshments of hot cocoa, warm apple cider, and cookies courtesy of the Maine Eastern Railroad's employees and Tim Hortons of Rockland
There are no seats available to be sold for this train, as it is for the collection of donations only. All toy and food donations will be provided to local families by Catholic Charities of Maine, Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry, Penquis and The Salvation Army, just in time for Thanksgiving and the winter holidays.
