Jul 22, 2014
Tenants Harbor artist Geoff Bladon’s sketch of Waldoboro’s Main Street has become the logo for Paint the Town.

Waldoboro — The annual Paint the Town fundraiser celebrates the architectural treasures, as well as the natural beauty, of the Medomak Valley region. The Waldo Theatre, 916 Main St./Route 220, will host this year's end-of-day fresh art auction Saturday, Aug. 2, at 6 p.m.

The Waldo Theatre's doors will open at 5 p.m. for the auction preview and artists’ reception, co-hosted by Laura Cabot Catering and the Waldoboro Public Library. Thomaston Place Auction Galleries will be officiating.

During the evening, Medomak Valley Land Trust will display “Stone Circle,” a painting by well-known avant-garde artist Joseph Fiore given to MVLT by Maine Farmland Trust, which received a large collection of Fiore’s Rock Paintings by the Falcon Foundation, a vehicle created by Fiore’s estate.  During his lifetime, Fiore was a generous supporter of both land trusts. The is a major exhibit of Fiore’s rock paintings at Damariscotta’s Firehouse Gallery this summer.

Paint the Town proceeds benefit the artists, Medomak Valley Community Foundation, the Medomak Valley Land Trust, Waldoboro Lions, Waldoboro Public Library and the Waldo Theatre. For more information, contact Tidemark Gallery at 832-5109 or tidemarkgallery.com.
