Jonathan Phillips paints “Day’s End Camden Harbor” on a Camden Yacht Club float for Camden Falls Gallery’s annual plein air show.

Camden — The downtown Camden Falls Gallery is hosting its third annual plein air painting event. More than a dozen gallery artists from near and far are painting at their leisure throughout the Midcoast Thursday, July 31, to Friday, Aug. 8, coinciding with the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta and its feeder races.

More than 100 wooden sailboats will be in the area racing from Castine to Camden (July 31); from Camden to Brooklin (Aug. 1); and around Jericho Bay (Aug. 2) to Naskeag Point to complete the regatta.

On Aug. 8, the new paintings will be displayed and offered for sale at Camden Falls Gallery, 5 Public Landing; and the public is invited to an informal get-together with the artists from 5 to 7 p.m.

Paintings created during “Camden Plein Air 2014” will be exhibited through Aug. 20 and may be viewed daily between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. For more information, call 470-7027; email info@camdenfallsgallery.com; or visit camdenfallsgallery.com, where images of new works will be displayed as they come in.
