Thunder rolls: Oceanside eliminates Medomak Valley in 11-12 playInclement weather causes elimination game to be cut short
Rockport — The District 2 Little League 11- and 12-year-old double-elimination baseball all-star tournament pressed on Wednesday, July 2 — though the game between Oceanside and Medomak Valley ended a bit prematurely.
Oceanside held a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when thunder clapped around the game site, which signals an automatic 30-minute delay of the contest.
After enough time passed, the game eventually was called off due to delays as Oceanside secured the 2-1 win over Medomak Valley (1-2) at the Marge Jones Recreational Facility in Rockport
Normally, Little League games are six innings in duration, but can be ruled complete by umpires after four innings.
Oceanside (2-1) moves on to face Five Town (1-1) on Monday, July 7, with the winner of that game advancing to the District 2 championship game on Friday, July 11 against Waldo County (2-0).
Rosters for both teams include:
Medomak Valley — Jordan Powell, Duncan Widdecombe, Darius Pierpont, Travis Wyman, Michael Simmons, Gabe Allaire, Jonah Miller, Connor Simmons, Kallon Mortenson, Max Moody, Kyle Weinwand, Brady Simmons and Clayton Belcher. The team is managed by Jake Emerson and coached by Jason Simmons and Matt Moody.
