The Penobscot Bay YMCA’s Kids Club After-School Program offers exploratory activities to enhance children’s knowledge in all areas of learning.

Currently the Kids Club program is focusing on the scientific basis and the mysterious factors that surround the origins of space and the seemingly endless possibilities of space exploration. To help maximize child-learning experiences, additional importance and consideration is placed on carefully illustrated components of science and more specifically, exploring humankind, its cultures, and where human beings live, from both a physical and humankind perspective.

The staff has reached their main goal of showing and teaching children through hands-on fun while regarding how important developing a real understanding of the solar system is to the future.

The activities chosen to conduct this learning experience were bottle rockets, pizza planetariums and city/solar system scenes.
